He has also been involved in Historic Sports Car Racing (HSR) in the following classes GTP, GTO, GTU, WSC and the stock car class with many wins.

John says, all wins are great, but winning the Daytona 24hr in American GT in 2000, after years of second, thirds and worse and the ARCA stock car race in 2001 at Watkins Glen are right at the top of most exciting list. In 2008, he raced a 1979 Protofab Formula Super Vee designed by Bob Riley to a first overall finish at the Eagles Nest Hill Climb in North Carolina after a twenty-four year sabbatical from his last overall win in hill climbing.
